The New Bipartisanship

By Prometheus • on January 26, 2009

So now we know what Democratic bipartisanship looks like.  First take a jab at anyone who might listen to talk-radio’s most listened to host, then answer any criticism of a massive social spending program by sneering “I won.  I’m the president”.

Then go a step further by claiming to end the culture wars by offering taxpayer funds around the world to support abortion practices and counseling.  Of course, after signing the executive order, The One issued a statement in a bid to placate abortion critics by promising to “reach out to those on all sides of this issue to achieve the goal of reducing unintended pregnancies.”  He added: “It is time that we end the politicisation of this issue.”  Former presidential candidate Gary Bauer, president of the American Values pressure group, put this behavior in perspective: “It is both sad and infuriating that in the same week President Obama extended new rights to prisoners at Guantanamo Bay and began planning to release men whom we know have murdered Americans, he is preparing to sentence innocent children to death through abortion.”

Oh yeah, let’s not forget that the FDA, with administration support has approved the first human trials of embryonic stem cells.

If this is bipartisanship – count us as dissidents.
